McCain Foods Limited is a family-owned business founded in 1957 in Florenceville, New Brunswick, Canada. Today, the company is the world’s largest manufacturer of frozen potato products and a global leader in prepared appetizers and snacks. Its products can be found in restaurants and retail stores in more than 160 countries around the world. The company has major production, retail, and corporate operations around the world, employs approximately 22,000 people, operates more than 50 production facilities on six continents, partners with 3,500 farmers and generates annual sales in excess of $14 billion CAD. In 2022 McCain acquired the production locations Kruiningen, Yerseke and Rilland. These locations are specialised in snacks based on vegetables.

Location Rilland involves a new production site of 21,456m2. In addition to the production areas, there are cooling and freezing areas, two expeditions and office and staff areas. The ambition level chosen for the project is Breeam outstanding. Innovative for the design/build team is to work with detachability. For example, together with the steel structural engineer, bolt/nut connections were considered. Also, more than 90% of the waste on site was separated.
